Okay, two questions:

1. Who's got thoughts or comments on "Racing Weight", the new diet guide for endurance athletes that got put out by Matt Fitzgerald?

b. Do the forum categories have to be so boring?

Just curious.

I'm no nutritionist but this last season I raced about eight pounds heavier than the year before with awesome results. Two years ago I gained over twenty pounds in the off season vs a little over ten this year. Obviously you want to race lighter but it is more important to race hydrated. I think a lot of people worry so much about their weight that they forget to hydrate enough and most importantly be somewhat comfortable on race day. Bottom line is everyone is different and I have found that trial and error may be the best way to find out what your ideal race and training weight is.

I've purchased the book but have yet to read it. I have however perused the racing weight website for nutrition tracking. Its simply a thread of trainingpeaks. I found that to be a very useful tool.
I agree with Steve, getting to "your" ideal race weight can be a huge benefit. The first step is tracking your daily intakes and finding out your caloric burn rate. For that you need to get some testing done. I will post again as soon as I get through the book.

On another note, what did you mean about the topics being so boring? What would you like to see?

It does seem like a lot of the info is in the straightforward/common sense vein.

I do like it for the fact that it's all contained in one spot.

Not sure if I really needed to buy it. But, hey, I'm an info whore that way. And now I want to get DEXA testing done.

As for the "topics being boring". I was really just teasing. I came from the Chicago tri club, and enjoyed the sense of humor that was evident in a lot of the club's vibe.

Not slamming this site. It's just quieter than I'm used to.
