Significant Bike Climbs? 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 3
I think I'm addicted to hard climbs and thought I'd see if any one has some ideas of significant climbs around here they would recommend? The longer and more scenic the better! Please let me know your input.

Thanks,

Mitch

For scenic long climbs you probably need to head towards Wisconsin. Stillwater, Afton area or along the state border there are some large climbs out of the river valleys. If you are looking for a group ride, you can go to the Twin Cities Bicycling Club (www.biketcbc.org/) and look at their schedule. I see some rides there labeled WI Hills.

I live in the West metro, so I don't get over that way too often.

The three best climbs I have found in the southwest metro are the Minnesota River Hill between Lion's Tap and Flying Cloud Airport. There is also a good climb on Riverview Rd (where Old Shakopee goes under 169). The other is on Busch Lake Rd just West of Mt Normandal Lake/ just where 84th st turns into Busch Lk Rd. The Lion's Tap hill is the longest but is not as steep as the other two. The other two are short but steep.

The very one. If you start at Lions Tap you can go either way. Pick your poison.
