Suggestions for post race exercise 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I'm new to the world of tris and just did my first Olympic distance on Saturday (Life Time Fitness Tri). I have a month until my next tri, which is a sprint. I could use any guidance / suggestions out there on what level of exercise I should be doing this week post race. I have a tendency to go hard and not fold in as many recovery sessions and I'm learning that's not such a great strategy. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I'm no coach but I also did LTF and had a recovery drink ready to go after the race then then a little cool down run after the race. Sunday I did an easy zone 1 recovery spin for two hours, took Monday off (watched what I ate), and back on my regular training Schedule tuesday. I normally go three weeks of hard training then 1 week easy during the month. (when I'm training seriously)

There is no easy answer to this one. It all depends on your level of fitness. If you are really sore the day after a race I would do a very light workout or none at all. After that I would do light workouts until the soreness has gone away or is minimal. It's better to wait than get back into it too early and injure something.
