I usually don't wear a wetsuit but I'm doing the Point to La Point swim in August and I was advised to start early looking for one.

My last one I bought used from a MTC member and it worked well but it is too big now. So I decided to check them all out. What store/place in the twin cities has a good selection to try on? Gear West appears to still be in ski mode.

When I bought my 2nd one I just used the sizing charts on-line to determine the size I would fit the tried them out at Grand Performance and Gear West. Or you could order one on-line and if it doesn't fit send it back.

Xterrawetsuits usually runs specials (www.xterrawetsuits.com). I usually get a lot of promo emails. I suspect you will want a wetsuit with sleeves.

When you check GearWest, make sure you are looking at the Triathlon/Bike store and not the Running/Ski store (two different stores right next to each other). The Tri/Bike store does have wetsuits in stock.

It is a little difficult to be sure of the fit till you get in the water. When I bought mine a couple years ago, it was recommended to go to the smaller size if you are between size (I am glad I did).

Your other option would be a rent a suit (from a store or on-line).

Here is a coupon code for 50% off through 4/5.

Use coupon code SPRING50 at checkout to receive the Vortex 3 Fullsuit 50% discount. No coupon code is needed for the Volt 50% discount. Products are gender specific. For example, if you want to purchase the Men's Volt, click on the Men's Volt for proper sizing options. Click here to shop the entire XTERRA WETSUITS product line.

What do most people wear during the Lifetime Triathalon? I'm thinking of getting a tri-suit, but this is much thinner than a wetsuit. Or should I get a real wetsuit like the ones at the link below. If you wear one during the swim, do you wear shorts and shirt underneath to wear during the run and bike?

Wetsuits are great to have for the floatation and speed, but the water temp at Lifetime Tri is usually borderline as to being wetsuit legal (so you may not want to buy a wetsuit if that is the only Tri you are doing). Borrow one to try out if you can, or you may want to consider renting one.

I wore a wetsuit at Lifetime last year and I wear a tri-suit underneath.
