Hi - I'm Diane - I joined in July and I'm just now checking the computer. I'm training for my first Ironman - Madison - Sept 12th. I'm over over tired - think I've made all the mistakes a beginner can make - like not reaching out enough for support. I'm pretty anti- social so I've training mostly on my own. Running my strongest suit (8 Boston's) Swimming my weakest, biking I'm a wimp too. I don't enjoy biking so to make myself bike I signed up for every frinking bike event I could find just to force myself to ride - Horrible Hilly, Brute, Insane Terrain, Dairyland Dare, Tour De Tonka, MN Ironman, CHippewa Valley Century, Eau Claire Century - I think that's it - let's just say I've spent most of my time in my car this summer driving to WI and I wouldn't do it again. Like I said- I'm very green and too afraid to ask for help so I just go do it on my own. I think I want to buy racing tires. Anyone have suggestions?? Thanks for listening

I am also new to this but have not been doing near the biking you have (wow). I am doing my first ever Sprint on Sept 19. I know through all the reading that I have done in regards to running and triathlon training, a key is rest and recovery. Don't burn yourself out because then you may grow to hate training and the sport itself. I don't have any suggestions as far as racing tires because I essentially have no clue about anything at this point being so green myself. Good luck in your Ironman. Someday, maybe, I will attempt one of those but just want to stick with the small stuff for now. I just wanted to show you my support and hopefully support you a little since it sounds like we may have similar outlooks (anti-social). Have fun in Madison

Just to clarify you are looking for suggestions on Tires and not wheels correct? If it's Tires I personally like for Clinchers Continental GP 4000 about $40 a piece, and for Tubulars I use Continental Competitions about $80 a tire and you will have to get them glued on.

If you really mean wheels, I know we get a deal from Hed being a TCMC member so you could stop out a Grand Performance and check out their selection. I have Zipp 808's Tubular and personally I would like Clinchers for ease of flat changing.

Good Luck at your race! Can't believe you trained alone for most of it, I would drive myself crazy.

I went to Grand Performance - I got HED Jet 400 "wheels" and some kind of Continental race tires that I don't know the name - thanks again!
