Setting Goals by John Shelp, SCS Mulitsport

This month's tip:

Race season has started!  Some of you are happy and others are not pleased.  Now your winter prep (or lack there of) is showing in full color.  If you fit the latter (that of being not pleased) you need to take a deep breath, relax, reflect and plan for the remainder of your season.  The first thing to do is not beat yourself up by trying to make up for missed training.  Analyze your weaknesses, write them down, and come up with a sane plan to address them.  For all of us be sure to do appropriate recovery as this is what makes us faster.  Proper nutrition, sleep, bodywork (massage), stretching Active Isolated Stretching is most recommended) and self techniques such as foam rolling will ensure a proper functioning body and longevity.  Finally, look out for cars as they tend to break bones when they hit you.  Remember, if all else fails there is always cold beer and your TCMC folk are working hard to solidify a beer sponsor soon!
